The restructuring counsellor Dr. Nicole Essiger-Munk intends to again visit the global growth markets: From the East of our Continent through the growth centers of the Far East India, China and the Arab Gulf States.
The Gulf States turn their Visions into Facts in Urban Centers and Industry
The trip begins with the “Markets of the Future” covering the six Gulf States.
If there is a region, that is comparable with the boom in China and India, then it is the Arab Area, lead by the Gulf States. On the basis of profitable oil prices visions of new urban centers become reality, new industries appear out of the desert sand and financial services on world class level are offered everywhere.
Germany feels it can again entry into growth Markets from its Desks
These markets cannot be conquered from desks. Arabian business partners prefer face to face discussions and friendly personal contacts. Presence, where the activities are, is a MUST for any successful entry.
The Gulf States are the strongest growth markets of the world with capital gains of a total of US$ 250 BN, of which the larger portion is being invested in infrastructure projects.
Lack of Interest towards Arab Friends
Only slowly it begins to be understood that the German activities compared with those of our competitors out of the EU, China, India and the USA leave much to be desired. Too long we have, in the eyes of our Arab Friends shown little interest in their activities.
The Centers of Globalization are changing their structure extremely fast and Germany must hurry to catch up, unless it will miss out on these developments. Today the UAE are the largest trading partners of Germany and exports into these countries will be close to € 4 BN.
Wealth does not entail the right to Squandering
One of the most important strategies of the Gulf States can best be described by a “dictum” of the boss of ADNOC, the state oil companies of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Yousif Omeir bin Yousif: “The oil for us is not the most important thing.
The important matter is education. Our youth is to learn or study in the best possible way to enable them to form their own future.
It is about time that we present German Study Programs in the Emirates
The Gulf States, situated in the middle of some of the most dynamic economic areas of the world, since quite a while are seeking the contact to Germany, to German Universities and German Know How. They intend to become less dependent upon British or American Universities, which presently dominate the teaching scene.
Good examples for export of Tutoring into Arab States
The “German-Jordanian University” and the “German University Cairo” are excellent examples of successful education exports.
Beginning October 2007 when following the example of the Rhine-Westfalian University (RWTH) Aachen, the new “Oman-German University” in Muscat will be founded. The German Institution “University” again will be underrepresented on the Arabian Peninsula.
The booming Market of University Education attractive to other Foreign Participants
Until 2006, in the “Market” of University Education in UAE 35 foreign Universities have themselves established. Competition does not sleep! Important educational institutions, like the “British University” or the Australian “University of Wollongong” are firmly established in Dubai. In the near future the French “Sorbonne” will open its gates in Abu Dhabi.
An UAE German university with the typical German profile of studies is urgently required
Dr. Nicole Essiger-Munk criticizes, that in spite of interest on both sides no offer has been put forward to set up a German University in the UAE nor, that steps have been taken to form such a university.
It is constantly overlooked that with the many expatriates livings in the UAE such an institution would be of utmost importance.
The UAE is preparing for the Age of “Knowledge Economy”
Outstanding opportunities for the formation of Universities are available in Dubai in the so called “Education Free Zones”, the Dubai “Knowledge Village” (DKV) situated directly at the Sheikh Zayed Road, the main thoroughfare between the city center and Jebel Ali, the huge port and the future world largest airport Dubai world Centre. In the direct neighborhood are also the “Dubai Media City” and “Dubai Internet City” with an enormous potential for academic studies. |
